Hydrosols
Hydrosols, also known as essential waters, floral waters, herbal distillates, and herbal waters, consist of fragrant plant compounds suspended in water. They are extracted from aromatic plants during the same steam distillation process that releases essential oils. Whereas essential oils rise to the top of the distillation chamber, hydrosols remain at the bottom, retaining water-soluble plant pigments and flavonoids.
Because hydrosols are naturally less concentrated than essential oils, they do not need to be diluted or mixed with carrier oils before applying to the skin; applied directly, they mist and tone. Being light and naturally fragrant, hydrosols make especially refreshing face toners.
The hydrosols used in Aurum natural products are all natural with no synthetic fragrances—just immaculate plant aromas and compounds dispersed in pure water. Because hydrosols are perishable and contain no preservatives, they are best kept refrigerated.
