THE AURUM NATURALS STORY
Aurum Naturals founder and owner Carrie B. has liked candles for as long as she can remember. While other kids played house, she played "candle shop." Even before she could read, she would look through her parents' encyclopedia set and gaze at the Candles article!
Having talents in both music and science, Carrie decided to pursue degrees in genetics and molecular/cellular biology, and developed a passion for natural health during graduate school. She took a job as writer and public relations manager for an organic food company, and was encouraged by colleagues and business associates in 2008 to begin making and selling her own organic nut butters, body care products, and beeswax candles. The business thrived online and at local farmers markets. As boutique stores across the United States began placing more orders, the decision was made to have Aurum Naturals recognized as an LLC specializing in the finest quality beeswax and bayberry candles. Today, Carrie remains the sole proprietor of Aurum Naturals while serving as a Biology professor at a community college. Her dedication to natural living combined with a technical background in science and artistic development in classical music provides a unique skill set that influences the making of each candle.
From humble beginnings in the tiny kitchen of a rental house, to currently producing candles that are sold around the world, Aurum Naturals will always remain authentic, handmade, and managed with integrity.

MEET THE OWNER
I still have the first candles I ever owned—a pair of tapers my dad bought for me when I was about five years old. One day after kindergarten class we went to Pier One Imports downtown and he let me choose one thing from the store. Hanging from a rotating rack were assorted paired taper candles in various colors. A vibrant, deep cranberry red stood out to me and I became the proud owner of my very first candles. There is pleasure, pride, and responsibility in ownership, and it helps teach children to respect and honor the value of property. I cherished those first candles very much. They have long since faded to a dull orange-red and warped from trying to stand upright one too many hot summers. Still, I think fondly of these candles and haven't burned them after all this time. In fact, they are safely stored in the upper drawer of my dresser. I am so excited that, as an adult, I get to make candles every day and share that enthusiasm with others. One of my favorite experiences was meeting a young girl at the Plymouth farmers market. She seemed as fascinated by my lip balms as I was about my first childhood candles. I hope that I might have played some small role in fostering her interest in natural crafts, and her joy for living.
